Natalie Langston:
For City Lights on Novus TV, I’m Natalie Langston. Renew, refresh, renovate is the slogan of this year’s Home and Garden Show. We’re here to get the scoop on the latest trends in B.C. living for this spring season.
Stitching’s a cinch with the easy advice from the sewing expert, Denise Wild. Or so I’m told. How do you plan on turning a beginner, like myself, into a lean, mean, sewing machine?
Denise:
I love your style. I’m going to do it one step at a time. It’s actually really easy. I’m going to get you to put this in between– underneath the presser foot.
Natalie:
Okay.
Denise:
And there’s a little black lever inside. You’re going to lower the lever. Now you’re going to press the foot pedal. There you go. Perfect! And you’re done.
Natalie:
Woo. Look what I made.
Denise:
You did it. Good job.
Natalie:
Now what are some easy DYI sewing projects that you can suggest for the spring and summer season?
Denise:
Um, pillows are great. They’re very easy to do. You could do them with a zipper or if you don’t have– if you don’t have the skills to install a zipper, you can do them without. So even a fold-over bag just like a- you know, a pillow sham.
Natalie:
Right.
Denise:
You stuff the pillow inside.
Natalie:
Oh, cool.
Denise:
Very easy to do.
