Back in September of 2004, The Sewing Studio began as a small class of friends who learned to sew in Denise’s one-bedroom Toronto apartment. While Denise was working as a beauty editor at FLARE magazine, Canada’s largest fashion magazine, her chic sewing classes continued gaining momentum and quickly garnered media attention nationwide. Those classes evolved into The Sewing Studio, which soon became the number one place in North America for learning how to sew. Denise opened several locations of The Sewing Studio in Toronto, and in 2010, opened another location in New York City’s famous garment district.
Also in 2010, Denise merged her love of sewing with her passion for magazines and editorial by creating LoveSewing. LoveSewing started out as a digital flip-book magazine that focused on fashion and style before it relaunched as an online destination with daily trend and style articles, sewing tips, and sewing how-tos.
After 10 years, Denise sold her businesses to F+W Media, the largest craft publisher in the world, and the owners of Interweave and New Track Media. At its peak, The Sewing Studio was teaching over 500 students each week, and reached a global audience of almost 100,000 online visitors every month.
