Dinner Television Host, Bridget Ryan:
Hey, everybody. We’re here at the Home + Garden Show; and it’s happening, man. It starts tonight, tomorrow, Saturday. You kind of don’t want to miss being here, of course. There are so many specialists. Right now we’re in an ‘Ask an Expert’ booth. This one, of course, is sponsored by Walcher Brothers Landscaping. They’ve let us have it so I can introduce to you this fabulous lady who is one of the many guests as well, here at the Home + Garden Show.

Denise:
Yes.

Bridget Ryan:
And you are?

Denise:
I’m Denise Wild. I am a sewer, crafter, DIY extraordinare.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome.

Denise:

I’m here at the Home + Garden Show. I’m going to be on the main stage in ten minutes. Talking about– I know, we have to run after this – I’m talking about bringing fabric and textiles into your home and how to update your home using soft furnishings. So I want to show you –

Bridget Ryan:
And this is stuff that we already have. Mostly –

Denise:
It’s things that you already have.

Bridget Ryan:
Right.

Denise:
Yeah. And it’s just ways that you can bring in those colours and fabric textures and prints into your décor to update it for spring.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome. You’ve brought a couple samples–

Denise:
Yeah.

Bridget Ryan:
—to show that this sort of effectiveness of fabrics.

Denise:
Exactly. So what I want to show you, everything here is from HomeSense. It’s an amazing store you can get all your products from, and such good variety and–

Bridget Ryan:
Yeah.

Denise:
—very inexpensive. So, of course, I love a deal. This is a two panel set of curtains for only $39.99.

Bridget Ryan:
Love it.

Denise:
But, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to update it. So you have these soft furnishings; it’s fabric, it’s textiles, and you want to update your home for spring. Toss cushions are such a great way of bringing in colours – of bringing in those trends. But you don’t want to pay a lot. You don’t want to commit to a lot. So let’s say you want to update your room, for spring; you can buy a new–

Bridget Ryan:
Super.

Denise:
Exactly.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome.

Denise:
A new cover; it’s got a zipper, it pops in, it pops on. Or, if you’re a sewer, you can make one with a Janome sewing machine.

Bridget Ryan:
Did you make that?

Denise:
I didn’t. These are from HomeSense.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome, awesome.

Denise:
But I could. I have the skills to be able to make it.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome.

Denise:
And then you take, you know, your heavier textile; it’s a knit throw and you replace it with something that’s lightweight like a cotton. So this is light and breezy. It’s got a great print.

Bridget Ryan:
Oh, I love it.

Denise:
And then it still has that warm and fuzzy, because with a throw, you want to snuggle up still.

Bridget Ryan:
Right. What’s the trend– like in terms of, sort of the, with the colours and – is there something that is on-point right now? On trend?

Denise:
So, yes. In general, spring colours tend to be lighter, brighter, very soft right now. But really, it’s whatever works for you. Whatever you like. Whatever is your personal taste. You don’t want to be surrounded by stuff in your home that doesn’t suit you.

Bridget Ryan:
Um, hum.

Denise:
So I would say look at the trends that are out there, but bring in what’s really– what really means something to you and what supports your style.

Bridget Ryan:
Awesome. And what time are you on the stage tonight?

Denise:
Seven O’clock.

Bridget Ryan:
Right away.

Denise:
Right now!

Bridget Ryan:
Oh, my gosh. Okay, um, you got to go.

Denise:
I’m going now.

Bridget Ryan:
We got to go. We’ll be back with more Dinner Television after this, ladies and gentlemen; and by the way, there is so much going on here. Ask an Expert like this gorgeous lady or the many– we’re in a landscaping booth right now. There’s, um, people that will help you have a more beautiful home. We’ll be back after this.
