DIY Glow-In-The-Dark Bubbles (Video)
Bubbles are so much fun to play with, and — great news — they’re easy to make! Here’s a recipe I shared behind-the-scenes at Cityline for DIY bubbles that glow in the dark. The secret ingredient? Glycerine! It makes the bubbles extra strong so you can blow them up big-time!
- 1 cup Great Value distilled water
- 1 table spoon Great Value dish soap
- 1 teaspoon glycerin
- 2 table spoons water-based glow-in-the-dark paint
- Container for mixing
- Spoon for mixing
- Bubble wands (use Great Value straws or poke a hold in Great Value styrofoam cups for an inexpensive alternative)
Mix the water, dish soap, and glycerine. Then add the glow-in-the-dark paint. For the best results, cover the container and let it sit for 24 hours. To charge the glow-in-the-dark paint, place the container in the sun for several hours before using.
I’m Denise Wild, behind the scenes at Cityline, and I want to show you a great DIY project that you can do with your kids or for your kids. It’s ‘make your own bubbles.’
We’re going to take distilled water and add some dish detergent. Then add some glycerin; now this is what makes the bubbles nice and strong; it will keep them really big and make them last longer. And then you can add some water-based glow in the dark paint so that your bubbles glow in the dark.
Mix it all together and you’ve got beautiful bubbles.
If you want, just take a styrofoam cup, poke a hole in the back, and voilà!
